PRO City Cartage Inc. was established in 2003 in Mississauga, ON, by Omar Rehman and a team of enthusiastic trucking and logistics pioneers, many of whom are still with PRO City.

The PRO City team perceived a growing need in the Greater Toronto Area-centered (“GTA”) for more cost-effective and tightly-managed logistics services. As the economic center of Canada, the Toronto GTA had added almost 2,000,000 people since 1994, the year that NAFTA (the “North American Free Trade Agreement”) was signed. And Toronto business had boomed too — along with the need for logistics services throughout Ontario all the way to Montreal and to the US border.

Starting with just a few trucks, PRO City’s success has been consistent ever since, and the company has expanded six times since 2003, now maintaining over 100 trucks in service.

PRO City’s success is attributable to the company’s focus on specific logistics sectors: CPG, food and beverage, chemical, retail, energy, oil & gas. This strategic discipline has served the company well and has enabled the company to develop pioneering special services as well as expanding the PRO City fleet. After almost 15 years, PRO City has very clearly been a success, especially as measured in having earned the business of some of Canada’s best-known retailers and logistics providers.

But nothing stands still, including in logistics and trucking. As Toronto has grown and changed, so to have the requirements of logistics and trucking services customers. Increasingly, customers are looking for more fine-grained management of logistics, better quality control, and always, lower costs. And customers also want their trucking and logistics service providers to be able to ramp services up and down in response to business cycle opportunities. PRO City Cartage can meet customer needs both on specialization and on volume.

For customers requiring surge support, PRO City Cartage has from the beginning been able to provide extra trucking, logistics and even warehouse staff, in part because of the strength of the company’s sister firm PRO Personnel. As the company continues to grow in 2017, surge support will be enhanced as a result.

And for customers with increasingly specialized trucking and logistics needs, PRO City leadership has always responded with innovative, well-executed services. Specialized services have been a growing part of the company’s business and increasing the company’s capabilities in specialty services is part of the company’s 2017 strategic plan.

PRO City’s original mantra was chosen as “professional, reliable and organized”. It’s from this phrase that the acronym “PRO” is derived. The PRO City team of trucking and logistics professionals are completely dedicated to organizing the reliable services that our customers need. “PRO” has been a rule for success since 2003. It’s a mantra for the future too!
